Instagram Tests “Trial Reels” Feature to Aid Content Experimentation

TSCUpdate T

Instagram is rolling out a new experimental feature called “Trial Reels”, aimed at giving creators more freedom to test content ideas. This feature allows creators to upload reels that are visible only to non-followers during a trial phase. Unlike regular posts, these reels do not appear on the creator’s profile grid or reels tab, ensuring a discreet testing environment.

During the trial period, creators can track key engagement metrics such as views, likes, comments, and shares for 24 hours. Based on these insights, they can decide to either archive the reel or publish it publicly on their profile. However, followers can still access the reel if shared directly with them.

The feature is designed to provide creators a safe space to refine their content without affecting their overall profile aesthetics or metrics. Instagram’s initiative reflects its ongoing efforts to support creators in developing innovative and engaging content strategies

Although Meta has not confirmed an official rollout date, the feature aligns with Instagram’s broader strategy to empower creators and enhance the platform’s usability for content experimentation.
