In response to escalating tensions during the Krishna Janmashtami idol burial, the Sarlahi District Administration Office has declared a curfew in Malangwa, effective from 5 PM on Saturday until 8 AM on Sunday.

An altercation between two factions occurred on Friday evening in the old bus park area of Malangwa during the Krishna Janmashtami idol burial. Subsequently, another clash ensued on Saturday afternoon over the same issue. To quell the unrest, law enforcement resorted to firing 13 tear gas canisters and five rounds of aerial shots, as reported by DSP Dipendra Panjiar.

The curfew, now in effect, has successfully restored order in the area. Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav expressed disappointment that despite appeals for harmony through all-party meetings, the day witnessed acts of vandalism, provocative stone-throwing, and other disruptive actions.

To safeguard public safety and maintain peace, a curfew has been imposed, restricting movement and gatherings within the following boundaries: the old Malangwa city area, the eastern bank of the Jhim river, the western boundary marked by the Musaili canal, the southern region extending up to the Nepal-India border area, and the northern vicinity surrounding the temporary police station and Baba petrol pump. This curfew is enacted to deter any form of rioting or disorderly conduct.

Individuals breaching this order have been cautioned that security personnel are authorized to use necessary force and enforce legal action.
