Sandeep Reflects on Super Over Defeat in NPL 2024 Against Pokhara Avengers

In an intense ongoing match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2024, Sandeep Lamichhane’s team suffered a narrow defeat in the Super Over against Pokhara Avengers. Despite having the confidence to bowl during the crucial moment, Sandeep admitted the outcome was uncertain. Reflecting on the match, he acknowledged that even with strong performances, results don’t always go as expected, and today was one such instance.

Basir Ahmed, who had been economical in his first two overs, conceding only five runs, faltered under pressure during the death overs, which proved costly for the team.

Sandeep commended the efforts of all 11 players on his team, calling their performances exceptional. Explaining his decision to bat first, he said the challenges of chasing a target in the second innings influenced his choice.

Defending his own performance, Sandeep noted that while he didn’t take wickets, other bowlers stepped up. He also acknowledged that the team’s inability to capitalize during the powerplay and take early wickets changed the game’s momentum.

Pokhara’s bowler Bipin Khatri remarked that the team didn’t aim for the match to reach a Super Over but acknowledged their batting shortcomings. However, Rameon Reifer’s outstanding all-round performance in both the final over and the Super Over secured their victory. Bipin praised Reifer for demonstrating his Test-level experience and making a decisive impact.
