The use of modern technology is transforming various fields, making them faster, smarter, and more reliable. The education sector is also benefiting from technology, with services like online studying, remote learning, access to quality educational resources, and easy fee payments, making it more convenient for students, parents, and educational institutions.

BIM Association of Nepal (BIMAN) started the campaign “Technology in Education Sector” in 2080BS to promote the continuous use of technology in society. Under this campaign, BIMAN plans to increase the use of digital technology in educational services while also raising public awareness about technology’s benefits. BIMAN’s founding president, Suraj Bhattarai, said the institution has been encouraging the use of technology for some time and will continue to collaborate with other agencies in the future.

To achieve this goal, BIMAN introduced the “Khalti – Digital Educational Services” scheme in collaboration with digital wallet Khalti. This scheme allows educational institutions to create their payment profiles on Khalti’s app, web, and online platform, enabling easy payment of admission, monthly, and examination fees. Other services, such as a free sparrow SMS system, a result system, bulk top-up, corporate account for bank transfer, pocket-to-pocket transfer, and QR system, will also be introduced under the scheme, according to Officer Ravins Pokharel.

Digital usage brings convenience but also poses challenges, such as economic, geographic, and literacy factors. Nepal faces some of these challenges. Therefore, the campaign started in Far West Province (Province 7) with the aim of reaching remote areas, according to Bhattarai.

Ganesh Thapa, who represents Province 7, supports the campaign and is glad to participate. Thapa has been actively involved in running an orphanage, social activism, and youth politics in Bajura. KP Khanal, the youngest social activist of Nepal, who has been leading the cleanliness campaign in Kathmandu and other cities, will also promote the use of technology for himself and his organization.

Moreover, BIMAN is continually engaging with various other educational services directly and indirectly, as informed by Suman Paudel, the Secretary of BIMAN.
